Doha, QATAR – Qatar Airways, one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, has been named as the official airline of the Qatar Exxon Mobil Tennis Open 2006 and the Qatar Total Open 2006, to be held in Doha next year.
Some of the world’s leading players from the men’s and women’s circuit will converge on the capital of the State of Qatar for these prestigious tournaments being hosted by the Qatar Tennis Federation.
The 2006 Qatar Exxon Mobil Tennis Open for men will be staged at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex between 2 - 7 January 2006. The women’s event, 2006 Qatar Total Open, will be held at the same venue between 27 February – 4 March 2006.
At the Qatar Airways Tower in Doha, the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Akbar Al Baker, and Qatar Tennis Federation president, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Faleh Al Thani officially signed the sponsorship deal.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010.
