Qatar Airways Steals The Show At Mediterranean Travel Fair

Doha, QATAR – Senior politicians and tourism professionals from around the world were among a host of VIPs who visited Qatar Airways’ stand at the Mediterranean Travel Fair in Cairo last week, hailed as one of the most successful ever travel shows.

Egyptian Prime Minister, Dr. Ahmed Nazif and Tourism Minister, Ahmed El Maghraby were among the dignitaries who met key executives at Qatar Airways and sampled true Qatari hospitality.

HE Prince Sultan Bin Sulman Bin Abdel Aziz of Saudi Arabia also paid a special visit and chatted with employees who briefed him on Qatar Airways and its growth plans for the future.

The three-day event attracted international tour operators and tourism professionals who used the Fair to strike important business deals and discuss changing trends within the industry in the Middle East.

“MTF provided us with the opportunity to raise awareness of Qatar Airways, highlighting our extensive route network,” said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer, Akbar Al Baker.

“Qatar Airways recently launched flights to Luxor and Istanbul, and we are already gearing up to begin new routes this year, including the islands of the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean.

“MTF gave us the opportunity to discuss new routes and showcase our award-winning services,” added Al Baker.

The state-of-the-art Qatar Airways stand featured three plasma screens which highlighted the airline’s Five Star services and promoted the State of Qatar as a tourist destination.

Qatar Airways flight QR514 operates daily to Cairo, departing Doha at 1200, arriving in the Egyptian capital at 1520. Return flight QR515 leaves Cairo at 1620, arriving at Doha International Airport at 1930.

The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010. Qatar Airways moves to the New Doha International Airport in 2010, when the first phase of the new facility opens. For more information, visit www.ndiaproject.com
