Filipinos Bowled Over By Qatari Hospitality

Doha, QATAR – More than 350 bowling enthusiasts from the Filipino community across the Gulf converged on Doha for their annual tournament, sponsored by Qatar Airways.

The Filipino Bowling Federation of Qatar and Qatar Bowling Centre jointly hosted the competition, aimed at stimulating friendship, goodwill and renewing links among Filipinos living and working in the GCC.

Friends and families rallied to cheer on participants, who took part in both team and individual events with cash among the prizes up for grabs during the three-day competition.

Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker described the event as a tremendous success, adding that the Filipino community had long been a supporter of the airline.

“The Filipino community is a core group of people known for working hard and supporting the economies of the GCC,” said Al Baker.

“At Qatar Airways, we believe in giving back to the community and were delighted to take part in what is an important social bowling event, now in its seventh year.”

Myron Pangan, co-chairman of the organising committee of the GCC All Filipino Bowling Tour, added he was delighted at the turnout and thanked key sponsor Qatar Airways for making the event a resounding success.

“Qatar Airways is a popular airline for Filipinos flying back home and it was a great honour to get an airline known for its high quality and levels of service to support our tournament,” he said.
