Qatar Airways To Sponsor School Play

Doha, QATAR – Qatar Airways has announced its sponsorship of the highly anticipated school play of “Qaraqush searches for a job”, being performed by students from the Qatar Academy school.

The play, which will run for three consecutive days at the Qatar Academy Auditorium promises to deliver a humorous spin on reality through the use of the historically famous figure of Baha’-al-Din Qaraqush.

A hero from the 12th century, Qaraqush is described as one of Salah Al-Din Al Ayyubi’s most trusted men. This historical character encapsulates obedience and faithfulness to his commander. Circumstances during the play forces Qarqush to look for another job, which vastly differs from his military experiences, setting in motion a comical and entertaining series of events.

“It is with great pleasure that Qatar Airways has contributed its support to this production”, said Qatar Airways Area Manager-Qatar Ehab Abdel Fattah Amin, adding “We are delighted to sponsor this play.

“We firmly believe in giving back to the community and contributing our resources to events such as this which focuses on the Arabic language and culture.

The production, directed by Qatar Academy’s culture co-ordinator Rola Abo Ramadan Kahlout, is the first Arabic play to be performed by Qatar Academy students.

“Our school holds one English play every year and starting from this year, and hopefully onwards, an Arabic play as well”, said Kahlout.

Eighteen students will take part in the school play.

The play will take place at Qatar Academy Senior School on December 11, 2004. Tickets, priced at 30QR per person will go on sale December 1, 2004 at the Qatar Academy School.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010. Qatar Airways moves to the New Doha International Airport in 2010, when the first phase of the new facility opens. For more information, visit www.ndiaproject.com
