Qatar Airways Flies Adel Imam To Doha

Doha, March 10, 2004 - Comedian Adel Imam arrived at Doha International Airport on Qatar Airways flight QR515 last night.

Adel Imam, the top Egyptian actor, who will be bringing his play “The Bodyguard” to Doha as part of the Doha Cultural Festival, flew from Cairo to Doha on Qatar’s national carrier.

Qatar Airways’ Chief Executive Officer Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “We are very pleased to be the airline of choice for many cultural legends. Just yesterday we welcomed the Lebanese singer Majida Al Roumi, who flew into Doha International Airport on Qatar Airways, and today we have the chance to greet Adel Imam.

“Adel Imam is one of the most eminent actors and comedians of the Arab world. He has made numerous movies and starred in countless theatre productions. His fame has spread far beyond the Arab world, and he is probably one of the most easily recognised faces from Egypt.

“In addition to being such a well-known performer, Adel Imam has also made his mark in his role as an UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and his work with under-privileged children in the Arab world.

“It was a great honour to be able to welcome him on board of the Qatar Airways flight from Cairo and to bring him to Qatar,” Mr. Al Baker said.

Adel Imam will be bringing his much-performed comical play “The Bodyguard” to Doha. Together with a group of eight actors he will delight his audience every night during the Doha Cultural Festival.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010. Qatar Airways moves to the New Doha International Airport in 2010, when the first phase of the new facility opens. For more information, visit www.ndiaproject.com
