Qatar Airways To Participate In Farnborough International 2004

Doha, QATAR – July 19, ‏2004: Qatar Airways is pleased to announce that it will be taking part in Farnborough International – world’s premier business aviation event – from July 19 – 25, 2004.

The event, which is held every two years, will take place at Farnborough airport site in Farnborough, Hampshire where aviation and aerospace enthusiasts are promised an impressive display of up to 20 of the world’s leading business aircrafts, as well as flying displays lasting over 4 hours.

Qatar Airways’ delegation will be headed by Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Akbar Al Baker, and he will be joined by Qatar Airways Senior Manager Commercial-West - Mr. Fathi Shehab.

Over the course of the show, Qatar Airways delegation will welcome invited VIP guests into Qatar Airways’ impressive custom-made chalet, complete with its’ own chef and catering crew.

“The chalet provides Qatar Airways the opportunity to welcome some of aviations’ top executives to give them a relaxing environment where they can enjoy breakfast, lunch, and high tea, all catered by our own chef,” said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Akbar Al Baker.

“Qatar Airways will also be one of the participants in the static display show. The luxurious VIP configured BD700 dubbed the “Global Express” will be on exhibit, where spectators will be able to view one of the exclusive aircrafts in our Amiri fleet.

“It is indeed a pleasure for Qatar Airways to be a participant at the Farnborough event. We are looking forward to a successful week, where hopefully we will have the opportunity to showcase what our airline can offer.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010.
