Eight Challengers Win Through To Compete In The 2004 Qatar Airways Squash Challenge

Doha, Qatar : Egypt's Engy Kheirallah was one of eight players who yesterday won selection to enter the 2004 Qatar Airways Squash Challenge which officially begins today at Kahalifa International Tennis-Squash Complex in Doha, Qatar.

Five Britons also won through yesterday's final qualifying round of the Women's Qatar Airways Squash Challenge to join the eleven British players already in the main draw of the WISPA World Tour Grand Prix event.

The $70,000 event is the first to be sponsored by Qatar Airways, one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, which recently announced a three-year agreement with WISPA to become the television sponsor of the WISPA Grand Prix, in addition to becoming the association's official airline.

Natalie Grainger, the world No2 from the USA, is the top seed and is expected to meet England's world No1 Cassie Jackman in the final at the Khalifa Squash Complex on Saturday 28 February.

Today's opening round begins at 2 pm with the final game scheduled to begin at 6.40 pm. Admission is free.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010.
