Qatar Airways Showcases Its Service Quality At Italian BIT Exhibition

Doha, Qatar : Qatar Airways - the national carrier of Qatar - will be showcasing why it has become one of the fastest growing airlines in the world when it participates in the Borsa Internazionale del Turismo, or International Tourism Exchange, held in Milan on February 14 - 17, 2004.

Qatar Airways' Chief Executive Officer Mr. Akbar Al Baker commented upon the event: "Qatar Airways is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, and we're very keen to showcase our premium product to the Italian market.

"We currently fly to 48 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, the Indian subcontinent and the Far East - including Rome and Milan - and will be flying to 60 destinations by the end of 2005.

"In 2004, we'll be adding Istanbul, Luxor, Zurich and Kabul to our growing route network.

"We currently offer four services from Rome and Milan per week with quick connections to destinations in the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent and the Far East.

"The Italian market, together with the whole European market is very important to us, and taking part in this important exhibition is a way of strengthening our position in Italy and Europe.

"With the addition of some 34 new Airbus aircraft to our fleet during the next five years, we'll be offering passengers safe and modern planes, the very latest in-flight entertainment and services, and stylish comfort that has made Qatar Airways one of the leaders in airline service," said Mr Al Baker.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010. Qatar Airways moves to the New Doha International Airport in 2010, when the first phase of the new facility opens. For more information, visit www.ndiaproject.com
