Qatar Airways to participate in Mediterranean Travel Fair

Doha - Qatar Airways is set to participate in the Mediterranean Travel Fair taking place in Cairo, Egypt from September 14 –16, 2004.

A delegation of Qatar Airways executives will be attending this 5th annual Mediterranean Travel Fair (MTF), which since its inception in 2000, has been a popular platform for hundreds of international travel companies and high calibre tourism professionals to realise the rich potential of Egypt and the countries that make up the Eastern Mediterranean region.

Qatar Airways’ Chief Executive Officer Mr. Akbar Al Baker stressed the importance of Qatar Airways attending this fair: “The MTF is of increasing importance, as travel and tourism in the Eastern Mediterranean region has been growing steadily and is set for further growth over the coming ten years.

“Not only is the region full of cultural and historical attractions, making it a magnet for incoming tourists, but also there has been a steady increase in outbound tourism from the region, making the MTF attractive to countries such as Qatar.

“In the last two months, Qatar Airways has started services to Luxor and Istanbul, both hugely important centres for tourism in the region, and we are going to take the opportunity of this fair to further raise awareness, not only of Qatar Airways, but also of our country, Qatar.

“The importance of this fair was demonstrated by the 15 per cent increase in attendees from last year’s exhibition, with some 1,400 exhibiting personnel representing 36 countries participating in this years event, “ Mr Al Baker stated.

Qatar Airways will be participating with a 50-square metre stand, which will be of a modern state-of-the-art design, incorporating visuals such as plasma screens and DVD players to run corporate films and introduce visitors to the airline’s five-star services and its country. The stand, in the modern Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Centre, is advantageously located near the stand of the Egyptian Tourism Authority, guaranteeing a steady flow of visitors.
