Qatar Airways Cargo Receives ISO Certification

Doha, QATAR: Qatar Airways Cargo division is pleased to announce that it has received the coveted certification to ISO 9001:2000 standards in recognition of International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

The certificate was issued by Mr. L. Ramalingam – Manager and Lead Auditor with M/s TUV Sueddeutschland – a leading German based certification body, to Qatar Airways Cargo division at a small ceremony held recently at Qatar Airways head office.

The certificate was awarded for Qatar Airways Cargo's exceptional capacity and steady growth in the fields of airfreight space sales, reservation and handling, which includes transportation by air, as well as delivery to the consignee. According to Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways CEO, the certificate "better equips the Cargo division to offer its customers a focused service based on timely delivery of consignments."

“We are constantly seeking ways to improve our services, and we remain very committed to our cargo customers and committed to developing cargo as a major part of our business well into the future.

“Given that this certification is aimed at organizations that strive towards excellence with respect to improving their operational processes, providing a trained and capable workforce and pursuing customer satisfaction, Qatar Airways Cargo has surpassed and exceeded these qualifications.

“Our cargo division managed to achieve certification within a short time frame of six months, which attests to their capabilities and proficiency.

“Qatar Airways Cargo is one of our success stories. Our cargo section has seen an increase in revenue of more than 50 per cent for the last three years. For the financial year 2003/2004 the growth figures are exceeding 77 per cent, which no doubt categorizes us as one of the fastest growing cargo operations in the world.

“Last year we took delivery of our first dedicated cargo freighter and will add two further freighters to the fleet by 2007. All these factors ensure that Qatar Airways Cargo has seen an incredible increase in tonnage flown all over the world and will continue along its successful path,” added Mr. Al Baker.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010. Qatar Airways moves to the New Doha International Airport in 2010, when the first phase of the new facility opens. For more information, visit www.ndiaproject.com

Qatar Airways is one of only six airlines in the world with a Five Star ranking for service and excellence awarded by Skytrax, the independent aviation industry monitoring agency. Skytrax also named Qatar Airways’ cabin crew as Best in the Middle East for the fifth year running in 2007 following a survey of more than 15 million passengers worldwide.
