Qatar Airways At Arabian Travel Market

Qatar Airways will be participating in the leading travel exhibition for the Middle East and pan Arab region, the Arabian Travel Market (ATM), to be held in Dubai from May 4-8.

Qatar Airways’ chief executive officer Mr. Akbar Al Baker will be attending the important event together with a high-profile delegation. He stressed the significance of participating in this major local event:

“The ATM is the premier event of this kind in the region, second this year only to the Global Travel and Tourism Summit, which Qatar Airways is hosting in Doha on May 1-3.

“The exhibition has grown by more than 25 per cent since last year, and attracts some 800 exhibitors from more than 55 countries worldwide.

“Last year the show was visited by some 13,000 visitors, 67 per cent of which where above managerial status and as such being key decision makers in the travel and tourism industry.

“The travel market will provide great networking opportunities, raising awareness of Qatar Airways in potential future customers and opening new mutual business prospects amongst participants and visitors alike.

“We will be revealing our grand plan for tourism at the GTTS in Doha on May 1, which will show the world’s decision makers in the travel and tourism industry that we are very serious about developing tourism in Qatar, and taking part in major events, such as the ATM, is a must for any determined player in the tourism and travel industry.

“Following the unveiling of the masterplan for tourism in Doha, Qatar Airways will be announcing further news for the expansion and growth of the airline. We will be making three major announcements at the ATM which will further establish Qatar Airways as one of the fastest growing airlines in the world,” Mr. Al Baker said.

Qatar’s national carrier will be participating with its new 110 square meter stand, incorporating a VIP seating area, areas for visual displays and meeting areas for visitors.

Taking place in the Dubai World Trade Centre, the Qatar Airways stand can be found in Hall 8 dedicated to Middle Eastern and North African exhibitors.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010. Qatar Airways moves to the New Doha International Airport in 2010, when the first phase of the new facility opens. For more information, visit www.ndiaproject.com

Qatar Airways is one of only six airlines in the world with a Five Star ranking for service and excellence awarded by Skytrax, the independent aviation industry monitoring agency.
