There are so many incredible places to see, people to meet, cultures to learn about, and experiences to be had on our marvellous blue planet. We have chosen five amazing yet lesser-known destinations to add to your travel bucket list in 2020.

Pink lakes, Australia

Western Australia’s pink lakes, Lake Hillier and Hutt Lagoon, are beguiling to say the least. These natural wonders exist due to the lakes’ high level of salinity which gives the waters an unusual pink hue.

Both lakes can be accessed by car from Perth’s CBD, with Hutt Lagoon being the closest (five-hour drive), but we recommend taking a scenic flight to truly admire the magnificent scenes. From above, you are able to view the beautiful pink lake next to the contrast of the deep, blue Indian Ocean.

Old pagodas, Vietnam

Da Nang is known as a popular gateway to South Central Vietnam, with a west-coast location that makes for beautiful sunsets against an impressive backdrop of lush mountains.

This coastal city offers a perfect combination of a city break and beach holiday with three main beaches – Pham Van Dong, My Khe (China Beach) and Holiday Beach, which is particularly popular with surfers.

Desert safari, Qatar

Visit Doha's nearby desert and be truly blown away by the beauty of the Middle East. Embark on a full-day desert safari where you'll spend the day dune bashing and swimming in the beguiling Inland Sea.

Settle in for the evening at a desert camp, where you'll enjoy a traditional Arabian barbeque, relax in beach gazebos, ride camels and enjoy the luxurious facilities in the middle of the desert.

You can also book a stopover in Doha for up to 4 days on your way to your final destination or on your return trip?

Sunset vistas, South Africa

You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to attractions during your trip to Cape Town. Go on safari, to catch a glimpse of the continent’s most iconic animals, or take to the awe-inspiring ragged coast for an adrenaline-pumping experience of swimming with sharks.

You should also take a cable car ride up Table Mountain to enjoy some truly astonishing views.

Discover Cape Town

Yoga retreat, India

Not only a yoga epicenter, Goa is a popular scuba diving destination between October and May, while there are also opportunities for paragliding and jet-skiing. The end of May and the start of June are the best times for surfing.

This fusion of a beach paradise, a vibrant scene and uniquely Portuguese heritage brings backpackers flocking.

A tip from us:
Don't miss the Arpora Saturday Night Bazaar. Most of Goa’s finest boutique designers, restaurants and bars bring their best to you there, letting you sample a whole range of essential Goan experiences in a single night.

Hajar Mountains, Oman

Known as the highest mountain range in the eastern Arabian Peninsula, Hajar Mountains is a spectacularly unique place to visit on a vacation taken off the beaten path.

Alongside trekking through the rugged, rocky terrain and exploring the striking archaeological sites, we recommend that the adventurous travelers take a camping trip within the mountainous surrounds. Prepare yourselves, as the mountains get very chilly even in summer.

Railay Beach, Thailand

Only accessible by boat, Railay Beach is a remote destination that we recommend exploring when visiting Krabi. The secluded beach has the best of both worlds, as the jungle meets the ocean on the Railay Beach coastline. This beautiful island is perfect for rock climbers, beach-goers and curious jetsetters.

Climb the picturesque limestone caves, snorkel through the turquoise waters and enjoy the blissful surrounds of a remote island.

African safari, Botswana

The unassuming destination of Botswana is the perfect place for intrepid travelers to explore.

Adventure through the Okavango Delta by canoe (look out for the hippos and crocodiles), meet some of the friendly local tribes, embark on a safari through a game reserve, take a scenic flight over the plains or explore them on horseback. It’s an adventurer’s wonderland.

Discover Gaborone

Phewa Lake, Nepal

Take the picturesque drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, where you will find the most idyllic spot to admire the Himalayas from the water.

The spectacular scenery of Phewa Lake has a plethora of adventurous activities to take part in, such as canoeing, paddle boating and other adventurous water and land activities. The lake is surrounded with luxurious accommodation options and plenty of local restaurants with sumptuous cuisine to indulge in.

Zanzibar, Tanzania

For a memorable beach holiday that is a little less known than the ever so popular Maldives, take flight to the tropical archipelago of Zanzibar.

Located off the coastline of Tanzania, Zanzibar is often underestimated for its tropical beauty and relaxed beach vibes. We recommend visiting the small island of Changuu, which is home to turquoise waters, white sands and giant tortoises. It is a typically secluded island which can be easily reached by private boat from Zanzibar.
