Qatar Airways is committed to confronting the global environmental challenge of climate change. In alignment with global industry goals and objectives, we have adopted the International Air Transport Association's Four-Pillar Strategy to reduce carbon emissions.

Technology

Qatar Airways operates one of the youngest fleets in the sky, with a commitment to reducing carbon emissions through the use of fuel-efficient aircraft designs.
Our modern fleet produces lower emissions and less noise. Additionally, we invest in engineering upgrades for airframes and engines, which helps reduce drag and improve efficiency.

Operations and infrastructure

Qatar Airways is the first airline in Middle East to join the IATA Turbulence Aware data exchange platform, which ensures a smoother journey in the air with a lower fuel burn.
We have also implemented over 80 fuel optimisation programmes aimed at reducing fuel use and identified opportunities to reduce fuel burn during all flight phases through Performance Based Navigation (PBN).

Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)

Qatar Airways is committed to working with industry stakeholders to accelerate the adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), despite challenges such as accessibility and cost.
We are committed to the use of 10% SAF by 2030.

Compliance with global market-based measures

As we acknowledge that technology, operational measures and better infrastructure are needed to achieve the ambitious climate goals, we remain compliant with global market-based measures such as the EU ETS, UK ETS, and CORSIA to reduce emissions.

Qatar Executive takes the lead with the world's first Gulfstream G700 capable of using 100% SAF. Qatar Airways Cargo was the first air cargo to join the IATA CO2NNECT platform and make a carbon transaction on the IATA ACE.

Hamad International Airport is accredited with environmental accreditation (ACI Level 3 - optimisation), while Qatar Aviation Services becomes the world's first ground handler to achieve the new IEnvA certification.
