Here are friendly reminders to keep in mind as you prepare to travel
O.R. Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg, Gauteng)
Qatar Airways passengers should make their way to Terminal A on the International Departures level for check-in
Cape Town International Airport (Cape Town, Western Cape)
Cape Town International Airport (CTIA), Africa’s most award winning airport, boasts numerous International Awards, including the enviable Skytrax World Award, for 10th Best Airport in the World and 2nd Best Airport in the World for friendliness of Staff, both a first for an African Airport.
With just over 8 million passengers passing through the airport annually, the airport is currently abuzz with activity as the massive construction projects underway draw to a close.
The infrastructure enhancements, which will result in a complete transformation of the airport include:
Early in November the Departures portion of the new 5 storey Central Terminal Building will open with Qatar Airways relocating their operations there! Located on the 2nd floor of the new terminal, the check-in area will combine the check-in process for both International and Domestic passengers.
Qatar Airways is served by eight check-in desks in the new terminal. Two desks are reserved for business class passengers, four desks for economy class, and one each for fast bag drop off check-in and flight controller. Business Class, Gold and Silver Card holders will be able to make use of the BIDAir Hospitality Lounge where they can refresh in South African comfort.
Passengers with excess baggage claims and ticket upgrade requests will be serviced by the Menzies Office located near the check-in area.
Overlooking the check-in area, on the floor above, a retail emporium exists. Here airport users will be spoilt for choice when choosing a meal. The airport’s retail offering will also be enhanced, as the current offering is almost doubled – something that airport users will indeed enjoy. Users will be able to choose from food and beverage outlets such as Mugg and Bean, Subway, Ocean Basket, and Woolworths Food market, to name but a few.
All of the efforts are implemented with the aim of positively improving the airport users’ airport experience and providing a better end to end service, so that passengers can move through the airport seamlessly.
Passengers travelling First and Business class on Qatar Airways will experience 5-star hospitality at the Premium Terminal in Doha. This experience begins from the time you walk into the terminal until you depart.
Please ensure that you bring the credit card used to purchase your ticket, this is done for fraud protection. Failure to produce your credit card might lead to you being prevented from travelling on your flight.
