Sri Lanka has something for everyone.

Enjoy the charm and shopping of the bustling metropolis of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. It combines the lazy charms of a bygone era with the verve and vivaciousness of a modern city. Or take a tour and discover the history of Kandy, the tea plantations of the hills around Nuwara Eliya, marvel at Sigiriya, interact with the elephants or just laze on a fabulous beach.

Kandy is the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, and boasts prominent tourist attractions like the Temple of Tooth and the Old Royal Palace. Here you can visit elegant historic sites, enjoy song dances, buy souvenirs and indulge in adventure activities.

See baby jumbos wondering around their cramped foster home or bottle fed and bathed by their human foster fathers at Pinnawala, about 90Km from Colombo towards Kandy is the home to some 60 or more elephant orphans. A place you will really enjoy and never forget.

Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress which is a world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495 AD). The spectacular 'Lion rock' fortress, stands majestically overlooking the luscious green jungle surroundings, and is one of Sri Lanka's major attractions.

Nuwara Eliya, Situated at around 2000m above sea level and surrounded by lush tea plantations Nuwara Eliya is the main hill resort of Sri Lanka and the heart of the tea industry.

West Coast beaches have the easiest access from Colombo on the new expressway which is open all the way to colonial Galle. Many lovely, exotic beaches such as Negambo, Bentota, Hikkaduwa, Beruwala… many good Surfing & Diving spots and lovely creamy sand.

Optional Excursions

Let us recommend some optional excursions if you are staying in Colombo.

Polonnaruwa Excursion: The capital from the 11th to 13th Century. It’s centrepiece is the Terrace of the Tooth Relic. Best examples of sculpture at Polonnaruwa are seen at Gal Vihara, a monument with four beautifully carved images of the Buddha. A sampling of medieval Buddhist art is preserved at the Tivanka Image House. One of the island’s largest known irrigation reservoirs is the Parakrama Samudra, an inland sea contracted in the 11th century.

Minneriya Jungle Safar: Do a safari of the Minneriya National Park by jeep. The extent of the Minneriya National Park is about 8,889 hectares. There are wet-lands in this National Park, which have international importance, animal and plant species, which are plenty in dry zone are found in this park. Wild elephants, various amphibians, local and immigrant bird species are plenty in this park. About 160 species of birds, 09 amphibians, 25 reptile species, 26 fish species and more than 78 butterfly species have been found in this area. There are bamboo trees which are rare in other parks and wild elephants can be seen conveniently. The significant feature is that these elephants can be seen going closer to them.

Colombo City Tour: Almost overnight, skyscrapers arise from where old buildings once stood. Yet in some parts, the old world charm is retained. For example, there is a 100-year-old clock tower and several British built colonial buildings. Other places of interest are the Pettah bazaar - where one can shop for bargain, a Hindu and a Buddhist temple, residential areas where you find the stately homes of the affluent, the Colombo museum, the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall a gift to Sri Lanka from the People's Republic of China.
