At Qatar Airways we are proud to be an award winning airline. Experience what it really means to fly luxury long-haul with flights from Dammam to Orlando with Qatar Airways.
Orlando is an American city located in Orange County Florida and whilst famously associated with theme parks and tourist attractions, it is also a vibrant metropolitan area and important commercial centre. This sunny destination benefits from a vibrant atmosphere and impeccable climate – with many things to see and do for travellers young and old, including upscale shopping centres, amazing restaurants and, of course, famous theme parks like Disney World and Universal Studios.
Surrounded by dramatic sand dunes and the vast open spaces of the Arabian Desert, Dammam Airport (known as King Fahd International Airport) is truly vast with six levels housing a huge selection of facilities, check-in desks, lounges and porter services.
Transportation and parking
The airport has a multi-storey car park attached to it. On the roof of this car park, you can find a mosque, which can be accessed from the passenger terminal through two enclosed, air-conditioned bridges and an additional open bridge.
The airport is around 50 kilometres from Dammam city centre, but is well served by frequent bus links and taxis. Carrier SAPTCO runs shuttle buses between the airport and the bus station every hour. The trip takes around 45 minutes. Taxis are available and are located in the rank outside the main entrance. A limousine service is also available.
Arriving at King Fahd International Airport
There is only one terminal at the airport, but it is vast. Departure check-in is located on Level 6, while boarding gates are on Level 4.
Facilities and amenities
King Fahd International Airport was the first in Saudi Arabia to open duty-free shops within its airport. There is a separate area dedicated to shops selling goods that passengers might find useful during their travels, and in the arrivals area you will also find plenty of cafés, restaurants and banks.
ATMs and currency exchange points are available in the departure and arrival areas. For a light meal with a view, head to the fourth floor (above check-in), where you'll find an observation deck and a café serving a buffet selection of food.
Think of Orlando and and an array of theme parks spring to mind. However, there is much more to this city than just Disney World or Universal Studios.
Orlando is also a centre for innovation, commerce and trade, and tourists also get a chance to see the ‘real’ America if they take a while to explore the city in more detail.
Book a flight to Orlando with Qatar Airways and you will have access to the world’s most popular theme parks and the chance to explore an American city that has plenty to offer culturally too.
The most obvious attractions are the big theme parks, but Orlando also has plenty of smaller, more intimate attractions that are well worth visiting.
The Arboretum at the University of Central Florida stretches over 80-acres of arboretum and botanical garden that includes a variety of different habitats including a Conservatory Compound, a Bromeliad Sanctuary, Cycad Garden, Fern Garden, Palm Collection, Rose Garden, Swamp Habitat, and Wetland Plants Display. It’s also free to enter.
The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art is a great destination if you want to learn more about American art and folk art. It also houses the world’s largest collection of work by Louis Comfort Tiffany, including jewellery, ceramics and his iconic lamps.
The Orlando Science Center is a hands-on learning experience that younger visitors love. Astronomers in particular will enjoy a visit to the Observatory, which is home to the largest refracting telescope in Florida.
And for a glimpse into the truly bizarre and macabre, a visit to Ripley's Believe It or Not! Orlando Odditorium will keep everyone entertained – and probably a little baffled. Finally, try looking at Orlando from a different perspective with Black Hammock Airboat Rides, including tours of Lake Jesup – home to one of the largest alligator populations in Florida – and Bird Island.
