Surrounded by dramatic sand dunes and the vast open spaces of the Arabian Desert, Dammam Airport (known as King Fahd International Airport) is truly vast with six levels housing a huge selection of facilities, check-in desks, lounges and porter services.
Transportation and parking
The airport has a multi-storey car park attached to it. On the roof of this car park, you can find a mosque, which can be accessed from the passenger terminal through two enclosed, air-conditioned bridges and an additional open bridge.
The airport is around 50 kilometres from Dammam city centre, but is well served by frequent bus links and taxis. Carrier SAPTCO runs shuttle buses between the airport and the bus station every hour. The trip takes around 45 minutes. Taxis are available and are located in the rank outside the main entrance. A limousine service is also available.
Arriving at King Fahd International Airport
There is only one terminal at the airport, but it is vast. Departure check-in is located on Level 6, while boarding gates are on Level 4.
Facilities and amenities
King Fahd International Airport was the first in Saudi Arabia to open duty-free shops within its airport. There is a separate area dedicated to shops selling goods that passengers might find useful during their travels, and in the arrivals area you will also find plenty of cafés, restaurants and banks.
ATMs and currency exchange points are available in the departure and arrival areas. For a light meal with a view, head to the fourth floor (above check-in), where you'll find an observation deck and a café serving a buffet selection of food.
Najaf is one of Islam’s holiest cities and a place of internationally important pilgrimage.
Approximately 160 miles south of Baghdad, the city has glittering skyline that indicates at its importance as a financial and business hub in the region, as well as being an important diplomatic centre.
Book a flight to Najaf with Qatar Airways and you will discover a city that is founded on traditional values but is well aware of its position in the modern world, and embraces modernity with open arms.
Tourism is perhaps a little bit of a misnomer when it comes to Najaf, as it is far more important as a religious centre than merely a place for causal tourism.
Of paramount importance is the Imam Ali Shrine the resting place of Alī ibn Abī Tālib, the son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammed, and an important figure in Islamic history.
