15 Oct 2013: Colombo - Kandalama
Proceed on a city tour of Colombo. See the Clock Tower, Colonial buildings, Pettah Bazaar, Colombo Museum and Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall. Later, proceed to Kandalama via Pinnawala which commenced with seven orphan elephants. Today some of these orphans enjoy the fortune of seeing their grandchildren born in the same location. The original objective of establishing the orphanage inclined more towards tourism, but is soon became a conservation and educational centre. Later, proceed to Kandalama and check-in at Heritance Kandalama. (B)

Day free at leisure or take an optional excursion to Sigiriya (at additional cost). Climb the 5th century Sigiriya rock fortress a world heritage site. The 'Lion Rock' is a citadel of unusual beauty rising 200 metres from the scrub jungle. The rock was the innermost stronghold of the 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart, and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster. Overnight at Heritance Kandalama. (B)
17 Oct 2013: Kandalama - Kandy
Proceed to Kandy en-route visit a spice garden in Matale to see different spices for which Sri Lanka is famous. Witness a Cookery demonstration. Later, transfer and check-in at Earls Regency. (B)
18 Oct 2013: Kandy
Proceed to Peradeniya Botanical Gardens followed by a city tour of Kandy. Drive around the Kandy Lake and visit the Kandy town and Bazaar, the arts and crafts centre, a gem museum and a lapidary. Also visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy. Thereafter witness a Cultural show. (B)

Arrive at Muscat International airport, meet, assist and transfer to Muscat Holiday Hotel. Later, proceed on a half-day city orientation tour. Visit the old city of Muscat and the fine museum of Bait Al Zubair in the heart of the old quarter. Take a photo stop at the Sultan’s Palace before visiting the largest indoor shopping market of Oman - Muttrah Souq.
16 Oct 2013: Sur - Ras Al Jinz - Sur
Check-out of the hotel and drive to the Grand Mosque, one of the largest in the world. Marvel at the rich Arabian architecture (open daily between 0800 –1100 hours, except Fridays. Dress code - Women should wear attire covering their arms and legs and should cover their head with scarf. Men should wear normal shirt and trousers).
Drive on the coastal road towards Sur. Take a Photo-stop at the Bimah sink hole - a geological formation and a scenic wonder. Picnic lunch will be provided en-route. Continue to the old African port of Sur and visit the famous Dhow building Yard which lies on a sheltered lagoon in Sur. Check-in at Sur Plaza Hotel.
In the afternoon, transfer to the Marina for a 2 hours sunset Dhow Cruise. Enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Arabian waters aboard the traditional Dhow. Later, drive to Ras Al Jinz a marvellous bay with golden sands, honey-colored cliffs and beaches famous for their turtle nesting sites. Reach the scientific centre and proceed on a guided tour to observe the nesting habits of the giant female green sea turtles. Transfer back to Sur Plaza Hotel after the tour. (B, PL)
17 Oct 2013: Wahiba Sands - Nizwa
Check-out of the hotel and drive towards Wahiba Sands. The great Wahiba Sands are longitudinal dunes 200 km long and 100 km wide running south from the Eastern Hajars to the Arabian Sea. Reach Al Mintrib and board 4WDs for a 1 hour activity of Dune bashing and Bedouin House visit. Later, drive out of desert and continue towards the ancient capital of Oman - Nizwa. Check-in at the Falaj Daris Hotel. Early evening, visit the famous Nizwa Souk. (B)
18 Oct 2013: Muscat
Check-out of the hotel and head out for a full day heritage tour. Start with the town of Nizwa which clusters around its historical buildings, traditional Souk and the imposing circular-towered fort. Then, travel to the village of Bahla known for its rich tradition of pottery and weaving. Visit the famous Pottery Centre with a photo stop at Bahla Fort, one of the oldest in Oman. Continue towards the Jabrin Fort, displaying the highest achievement in Omani ceiling painting and beautifully executed woodcarvings. Transfer back to Muscat and check-in at Muscat Holiday Hotel. (B)

Morning free at leisure. Check-out of the hotel and time permitting transfer to spend some time shopping at the Carrefour, one of the largest shopping malls in Muscat. Transfer to the airport. (B)
