Doha has come a long way since its days as a picturesque little fishing village on the shores of the Persian Gulf. Now it’s a futuristic, forward-looking metropolis with a skyline punctuated by engineering wonders and a diverse and cosmopolitan population attracted by the city’s booming economy. Fly here with Qatar Airways and experience a glamorous city that’s prospering and growing every day.

Flying from Oslo

Oslo Airport is not just a transport hub, but thanks to its extensive art exhibitions and displays, practically an art gallery too! Qatar Airways flights from Oslo take you from this northern location to a number of Middle Eastern destinations. Located just 19 miles from the centre of Oslo at Gardermoen, the airport offers passengers a smooth, relaxed and distinctly Scandinavian experience.

Transportation and parking

The Airport Express Train (Flytoget) takes approximately 20 minutes to get to the airport and stops at various locations along the way. The Norwegian State Railway also runs services from Skien, Oslo, Lillehammer and Trondheim.

The Airport Express Coach (SAS Flybussen) runs from Oslo’s city centre to the airport every 20 minutes, while the NOR-WAY Bus Express (Flybussekspressen) and Nettbuss also run from a number of locations to the main terminal. A dozen taxi companies operate services to and from the airport. Parking is available with 19,755 spaces spread across two covered and six outdoor parking areas.

Arriving in Oslo

Qatar Airways flights from Oslo depart from Hall 3 in the main terminal. Be aware that the airport is known as a "silent" airport, so announcements for flights are only done in the immediate vicinity of the gate.

Check the departures’ boards on arrival into the main entrance to locate the correct area of the terminal for your flight.

Facilities and amenities

The main terminal has a good selection of fashion and accessories outlets, including high-end luxury goods, perfume and duty-free shops. There is a heavy emphasis on Norwegian goods, including food.

A variety of food outlets offer delicious treats including pastries, snack foods and light bites.  Two hours of free Wi-Fi is available for all passengers, and facilities such are baby changing areas are also available.

Doha has a wonderful selection of museums, including the Msheireb Enrichment Centre. This is a barge docked at the Doha Corniche, close to one of the city's oldest landmarks, the Sheraton Hotel. It holds exhibits that chart the country’s historic background as well as its continuing plans for the future.

The Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art has recently opened and is home to a collection of modern art from across the Arab world.

The Al Koot Fort was built in 1880, and is a popular photographic stop for tourists visiting Souq Waqif – a charming traditional market and the social heart of the city.  The Clock Tower is next to the Grand Mosque, and because of its hilltop position it offers panoramic views of Doha and the Corniche.
