In the city itself, the rather splendid Royal Palace is charmingly elegant. Oslo’s Opera House is both an architectural delight and a great place to catch classical music events.

Fans of Norway’s greatest artist Edward Munch can visit the Munch Museum, and to see his most famous work 'The Scream,' head for the National Gallery. A day out at the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology is a hands-on museum that’s great for younger visitors.
