Our staff will do their best to investigate the whereabouts of your baggage and will notify you once it is found. In most cases, delayed baggage is located within 24 hours and once found, is usually arranged for delivery to your ultimate destination (ie. home or hotel).
You should have been given a file number for your missing or mishandled baggage visit, which you can use to track the status of your mishandled baggage, just click the image below and you will be directed to an airline industry baggage tracer website:
From June 2007, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) recommended all liquids, gels, pastes and aerosols up to 100 ml be carried in one transparent and resealable plastic bag to a maximum capacity of 1 Litre. The transparent bag dimensions should not exceed 20 cm x 20 cm or 8 inches x 8 inches. Containers over 100 ml will not be accepted even if just partly filled. All items must fit comfortably in the plastic bag. You are required to produce your clear transparent bag of liquids separately for security screening.
There are no restrictions on baby food and medication, however, you could be required to produce a medical certificate at the airport for medication taken onboard.
You are allowed to carry one piece of cabin baggage without charge (depending on the class you travel), as well as any duty-free items you have purchased on the day of your flight. You may also carry other necessary or personal items such as a purse, laptop, cane, camera, etc.

It is recommended that you check-in two to three hours before departure. Some airports could have different check-in times. Please contact your departure airport or your local Qatar Airways office for more information.
The check-in counter closes 1 hour prior to departure. This may vary depending on your airport of departure. Please contact your departure airport or your local Qatar Airways office if you require additional information.
Boarding gates close 20 minutes prior to departure. This may vary depending on your airport of departure. Contact your local Qatar Airways office for more information.
If you do not check in by the check-in deadline you may be denied boarding on your flight. This is in the interest of maintaining Qatar Airways' on-time performance and to ensure those on the flight can catch their down-line connections.
Depending on your fare conditions, a failure to check-in on time may also result in:
- The loss of the fare value. You may be required to make a new booking and pay for a new ticket if you wish to travel, or
- The payment of a change fee plus any difference between the fare for your new booking and the original fare.
Codesharing is the practice of one airline placing its flight number (and selling fares) on another airline's aircraft. This is commonly done to enable airlines to provide their customers with a much larger global network than they could provide on their own. Qatar Airways carries the code of several airlines and likewise, partners with other airlines to expand our own network. It is important that you check-in with the "operating carrier," the airline that is operating the aircraft, in order to check-in for your flight.
For a list of our codeshare partners click here.

An e-ticket (also known as Electronic Ticket or ETIX) is an electronically issued passenger ticket that is stored in the airline's computer system. The primary benefit is that there is no need to carry a paper ticket.
Although you do not receive a conventional paper ticket, you will receive a receipt/itinerary confirming your booking. This receipt/itinerary will be provided to you when purchasing your ticket. Be sure to check both your regular email inbox and your spam filter box, as there may be cases where Qatar Airways emails could land in either inbox.
No. The Internet is just one way of making an e-ticket booking. E-tickets will also be issued for bookings made at a Qatar Airways office or by any travel agent.
Qatar Airways does not require reconfirmation except for passengers travelling from Jeddah. All segments having Jeddah as their departure city have to reconfirm their flight 72 hours prior to departure by calling the local Qatar Airways office.

Children between the ages of 0 and 2 are considered "infants", whilst "child" travel is defined as children aged 2 to 11 years of age. Qatar Airways provides bassinettes for infants and has a limited supply of children's toys & colouring books. As you know, children may experience pains in their ears, especially during the landing phase of flight. For this, it is helpful to provide a bottle for infants or gum for children, as this will help equalise the pressure in their ears. Our helpful cabin crew will do everything possible to help families and their children fly comfortably. We are happy to help.
If you are planning to stay longer in a foreign country for any meaningful length of time, we recommend that you contact a health clinic or pediatrician to be aware of your child's immunisation/vaccination schedule in advance. Always carry the baby or child's passport and/or birth certificate when traveling abroad.
You are not required to purchase a seat for an infant less than 2 years of age and an infant may be seated on an adult's lap. If you are planning to use an infant restraint device/car seat, a ticket will need to be purchased. An infant car seat may be used for children over 2 years and it will need to occupy a normal passenger seat. It is recommended that an infant car seat be used for children weighing between 20 and 40lbs or 40 inches in height or less.

Strict rules for the contents of hand baggage will apply for all airline passengers throughout the European Union (EU), including Switzerland, Norway and Iceland. Passengers are allowed to carry small quantities a maximum of 100 ml per container of liquids, gels and aerosols in their hand baggage. The new rules apply to liquids such as water and other soft drinks, but also extend to gels, pastes, lotions, and the contents of aerosols. This also includes toiletries such as toothpaste, shaving cream, hair gel, lip gloss, and facial creams. The packaging of these products must meet specific requirements. This applies for all passengers departing from or catching connecting flights at airports within the European Union including Switzerland, Norway and Iceland. Passengers are allowed to carry these liquids and gels (max 100ml per container) in clear plastic bag. Each passenger is allowed to carry one clear plastic bag. The total volume of the plastic bag should not exceed 1 Liter. The transparent plastic needs to be re-sealable.
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom
Does the bag have to be a particular type? You may use any kind of bag provided that it is clear plastic, no larger than 20 cm x 20 cm (8 inches x 8 inches) or equivalent to one litre capacity, a re-sealable or zip-top. All liquid containers should fit comfortably in the bag and you should be able to close the bag completely.
Can I use a bigger bottle or container if the quantity of liquid does not exceed the permitted quantity?
No. The container can not be larger than the permitted size (i.e. 100ml (3.5 fl.oz) for customers departing an EU airport).
Do solid cosmetics and toiletries such as lipstick or stick deodorant need to go in the clear plastic bag?
No. Solid cosmetics or toiletries may be packed normally in your cabin bag.
Can I take more than one clear plastic bag with me?
No. Any containers holding liquids, gels or pastes must fit comfortably into one clear plastic bag no bigger than 20cm x 20 cm (8 inches x 8 inches) or equivalent to one litre capacity.
What exceptions are there?
Medications and special nutrition (e.g. baby formula), which are needed on board the aircraft, may be carried outside the clear plastic, zip-top bag. In addition, these exceptions are not subject to the 100 ml limitation. Medications and special nutrition must also be shown separately to the security personnel at the checkpoints.
What products are affected by these new limitations?
- liquids such as water and other beverages, soups, syrups
- cosmetics
- perfumes
- gels including hair and shower gels
- pastes including toothpaste
- aerosols
- mascara
- creams, lotions, oils
- contents of pressurized cans such as shaving cream, foams and deodorants
- mixtures out of liquid and solid materials
- other items of similar composition
Where Do I Get the Zip-Top Bags? The clear-plastic, zip-top bags with a maximum content of 1 liter can be purchased in stores, for example as deep-freeze bag with zip-top.
Liquid Policy for Flights from Canada and the USA
Can I take liquids onboard if I am travelling from Canadian and USA airports?
The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority and the Transportation Security Administration in the USA relaxed the restrictions on the carriage of liquids through airport security searches on flights departing airports in Canada and the USA. Customers may take with them in their cabin bag limited quantities of liquids, gels and aerosols, including travel-size toiletries such as shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel and hair spray. Containers holding liquids must not exceed three American ounces or 90ml. Liquid containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic zip-top bag that does not exceed 20 cm x 20 cm or 8 inches x 8 inches or quart size. Items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed. At the security search, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin bag and x-ray screened separately.
What Does Not Change?
The new regulations only apply for transporting liquids in your carry-on baggage through the security checkpoint. Liquids can still be put in check-in baggage if they do not conflict with the regulations governing dangerous goods in check-in baggage on aircraft. The purchase of Duty Free articles is no problem. Your purchase in the Duty Free store will be sealed in a special bag when paying. This will be done by a store employee. This procedure will enable you to change planes anywhere in the European Union if the bag remains closed until you have reached your final destination. Please keep your sales slip which must have the date of your travel printed on it.
Duty Free
Perfumes, cosmetics or alcohol in their standard packaging can - as in the past - be purchased in the Duty Free, Travel Value and all other stores located behind the security checkpoints. There will be no problem transporting items purchased in the above-mentioned stores when travelling inside the EU. As stated above, the sales personnel will package your purchase in a clear plastic, sealed bag. Please keep your sales slip which must have been issued on the day of your travel. Changing planes inside the EU will be absolutely no problem if keeping your bag with Duty Free items closed until having reached your final destination. Special regulations apply for Duty Free items on aircraft departing to the USA. More specific information will be given by the stores.
