Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport is a shining example of modernism combined with traditional values of service and courtesy. This busy air hub is located approximately 30km south of the capital, and is currently undergoing substantial re-development. Plans for a new airport hotel are underway, as well as an extension of the Tehran metro service to the main terminal. Passengers flying from Tehran with Qatar Airways will find the staff friendly and helpful, and the well-laid out terminal building easy to navigate
Parking and transportation
Transport to and from the airport is primarily provided by taxis and hire cars. Taxi journey time to the airport is around 90 minutes, depending on traffic. Shuttle buses link the airport to the nearest metro station and with Tehran’s domestic airport, Mehrabad International Airport. If you’re driving to the airport, follow the Tehran-Qom Freeway (Route 7), which links to the airport via a separate access road. Short-term parking is available next to the terminal building. Long-term car parks (2 and 3) are a little further out, but there is a regular free shuttle bus service running to the terminal.
