Book a flight from Shanghai to London with Qatar Airways

A refined level of service and understated elegance are just two of the distinguishing features you’ll notice on flights from Shanghai to London with Qatar Airways. Our attention to the smallest details is legendary, with our in-flight cuisine and choice of award-winning services setting even-higher standards for passenger air travel. Enjoy comfortable and spacious seating on your journey to England’s historic capital, and land refreshed and energised.

Europe’s biggest city was founded a millennium ago by the Romans as a trading port and has always been the main residence of the British monarchy, as well as of business and government. Full of world-class galleries, museums, theatres and historic buildings, London also has many green spaces such as Hyde Park, and the shopping and dining opportunities are limitless. The underground ‘tube’ system makes it easy to reach all parts of this sprawling city within minutes, to enjoy its many and varied delights.

Flying from Shanghai

China’s capital is one of the most extraordinary locations on earth, and its airport is just as incredible.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport connects with 189 international destinations, and is one of the busiest in the world.

However, the Chinese dedication to customer service means that passengers flying from Shanghai with Qatar Airways will experience a warm and friendly (if slightly formal) welcome and a standard of personal service that makes the experience one to remember.

Transportation and parking

The airport is large, but fortunately the network of ground transport including buses and train connections make it easy to find your way around.

Connections to the airport from Shanghai itself are also excellent, and passengers can travel to the airport by bus, taxi or the extraordinary Maglev (magnetic levitation) train line, which is an incredible feat of technological engineering. The Metro also connects downtown Shanghai to the airport.

Be aware that many taxi drivers will not speak English, so it may be advisable to ask your hotel to book a taxi for you. Parking is reasonable, with various parking areas near the terminals for both short and long-term stays.

Arriving at Shanghai Pudong International Airport

Passengers flying from Shanghai with Qatar Airways will depart from Terminal 2. The terminal has a very spacious lounge for departures.

You should arrive approximately two hours before your flight is due to leave, but expect delays.

Facilities and amenities

There are limited facilities in terminal 2 for departure passengers. A small selection of retail outlets sell local goods and a range of accessories and some luxury goods.

A duty free shop provides a typical selection of goods including perfumes, and there are some food and drink vendors selling local delicacies.

A select number of restaurants offer more substantial meals, and cuisine is almost exclusively Asian in nature.

Arriving in London

Book a flight to London and you’ll discover not just one, but a multitude of ‘cities’. There’s the London that’s home to famous sights such as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square and the London Eye.

Then, there’s the London full of museums and art galleries; the London with world-class dining and shopping opportunities, and the London with hidden attractions lurking in every one of its 32 boroughs. Book a flight to London with Qatar Airways to discover your London.

Tourist Attractions

London is the largest city in Western Europe and most tourists use the London Underground (‘the Tube’) to get around. Many of the main attractions are located within Central London, and it is quite possible to walk between them or hire one of the increasingly ubiquitous ‘Boris Bikes’. However, there are also the iconic London red buses and black cabs to help you get around this sprawling city, depending on your budget.

Must-see attractions during your trip to London range from major landmarks like the Royal Palaces, London Bridge and the London Eye, to world-famous museums like the British Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum.

Head to Westminster to discover the UK’s political centre, including Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
