Ho Chi Minh City is still commonly known as Saigon, especially when referring to the more popular central area. The sheer amount of commerce and culture packed into a relatively small area can be dizzying, but once you get your bearings you’ll find this to be one of the friendliest cities of SE Asia. It is packed with classy hotels and restaurants as well as more traditional venues, and temples wafting incense stand alongside chic modern office blocks, offering plenty of variety.
Clean, efficient and welcoming – Munich Airport is everything you would expect from Germany’s second-largest international air hub. Voted European Airport of the Year in 2011, it puts the emphasis on efficiency and a friendly, professional service to enhance the passenger experience.

Parking and transportation
Transport to the airport is, as you would expect, highly organised and extremely well run. The airport is directly connected to the city by the Munich suburban railway (S-Bahn) lines S1 and S8, which take approximately 45 minutes from the centre of Munich to the terminals.
Munich Airport Terminal station is located in a tunnel beneath the central area. Buses are also regular, with MVV bus lines linking to the nearby city of Freising, Erding and Markt Schwaben. Taxis are plentiful.
There are also plenty of parking areas close to the terminals, with those located a little further out linked by shuttle bus service.
Arriving at Munich Airport
Passengers flying from Munich with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 1, Module B. Check in counters, security points, customs and most facilities are located on level 4.
Amenities and facilities
There are a wealth of retail outlets, duty free points and refreshment vendors throughout the terminal. Most restaurants are located on level 4 and serve everything from on-the-go snacks and coffee to more substantial meals. Free Internet services are available for up to 30 minutes.
The main point of reference for passengers is the Munich Airport Centre or MAC, situated between terminals 1 and 2, which is a dedicated services and facilities centre for passengers’ use. It houses a complete shopping mall and conference centre, and even an ice skating rink in the winter.

To understand the culture and complex history of Vietnam, a visit to the Museum of Vietnamese History, at the intersection of Le Duan Street and Nguyen Binh Khiem, is a must. This impressive colonial building houses an internationally important collection of artefacts charting the history of the country. It is also surrounded by the Botanical Gardens – a peaceful and tranquil oasis in the middle of what is a very busy and noisy city.
For a more recent rendition of historical events, the Ho-Chi-Minh Museum, at Duong Nguyen Tat Thanh, Dist. 4, gives you a fascinating insight into the life of the man who unified North and South Vietnam after the end of hostilities.
Ho Chi Minh City has 12 mosques, the largest and most impressive of which is the Central Mosque, built in the 1930s. You’ll also find some beautiful older religious buildings such as the Thien Hau Pagoda and the Phung Son Tu Pagoda.
