This picturesque metropolis is certainly a modern city, full of architectural wonders including air-conditioned shopping centres and luxury hotels. Visitors to Doha will also discover more traditional attractions, such as the Souq Waqif, the oldest souq in Doha.

Flying from Karachi

The largest city in the Sindh province of Pakistan is served by the ultra-modern Jinnah International Airport. Named after the founder of the country, the airport is a major commercial and passenger hub for the region and connects to international destinations all over the world.

Bright, modern and friendly, Jinnah International Airport is extremely efficient. Passengers flying from Karachi with Qatar Airways will find this to be a pleasant and enjoyable starting point for any journey, with excellent facilities and a smooth, efficient service provided by friendly and professional staff.

Transportation and parking

Driving to the airport is easy – simply take the national N5 route straight there from the centre of Karachi.

The airport is well signposted and clearly marked. Taxi services from the city are plentiful, and radio-cabs are also available for pre-booking. Regular bus services link the airport with the city, and the journey time is around 50 minutes, depending on traffic conditions in the centre of the city (which can be incredibly busy!).

There is a commuter train station close by that connects directly with the city centre. Parking is limited for the size of the airport, but is conveniently placed for passengers. Short-term parking is directly opposite the terminal building, while long-term car parks are slightly further away, but still within walking distance.

Arriving at Karachi

Passengers flying from Karachi with Qatar Airways will depart from the East Concourse. A VIP lounge is available to premium class and business class passengers, as well as certain credit and club card holders.

Security at the airport is very tight, so allow extra time before your flight is due to depart to clear check in and security checks.

Facilities and amenities

The airport has excellent facilities, including prayer rooms for devotions, ATM, Bureau de Change and banking amenities, a mosque close to the main terminal, and extensive retail and food courts. Gift shops include those selling local goods and souvenirs, as well as luxury and high-end goods and accessories.

Duty Free shopping is available once you have cleared security checks, and the food court offers a range of vendors offering everything from tea and coffee through to more substantial meals.

This remarkable city is also developing at an incredible pace, becoming one of the fastest-growing cities in the Gulf region.

Home to the Educational City, museums, cultural attractions and much more, Doha is a surprising destination that is full of interesting sights and activities.

Dominated by its crescent-shaped bay, Doha was originally a collection of fishing and pearl-diving villages. Today, its skyline rivals that of any international destination worldwide. A flight to Doha with Qatar Airways gives you a chance to discover this fascinating city for yourself.

Tourist attractions

Doha has a wonderful selection of museums, including the Msheireb Enrichment Centre. This is a barge docked at the Doha Corniche, close to one of the city's oldest landmarks, the Sheraton Hotel. It holds exhibits that chart the country’s historic background as well as its continuing plans for the future.

The Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art has recently opened and is home to a collection of modern art from across the Arab world.

The Al Koot Fort was built in 1880, and is a popular photographic stop for tourists visiting Souq Waqif – a charming traditional market and the social heart of the city.  The Clock Tower is next to the Grand Mosque, and because of its hilltop position it offers panoramic views of Doha and the Corniche.

Doha Heritage Village is located along the Corniche in Al Rumeilia Park, and is based on a traditional Qatari village.
