Customers flying from Asmara with Qatar Airways will find the airport to be friendly and secure, with adequate facilities and a helpful, professional team ready to provide you with a memorable start to your journey.

The airport has a history dating back to 1922, making it one of the oldest in Africa and a key transport hub internationally. Recent improvements to the runway have opened up a number of new routes from the airport, placing it firmly on the map for international travellers.

Transportation and parking

The airport is close to the city of Asmara and is reasonably served by buses and taxis. However, travellers with larger amounts of luggage would be well advised to pre-book a taxi through their hotel, as buses to the airport can be very crowded.
