QATAR AIRWAYS TO SHOWCASE BOEING 787 DREAMLINER DURING SINGAPORE AIRSHOW 2014

Qatar Airways’ 787 Aircraft To Be On Static Display For Four Days

First Time Participating In Asia’s Largest Airshow

09 Feb 2014

Doha, QATAR — Qatar Airways has announced that it will be taking part in the Singapore Airshow for the first time this year. The airline will have its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on static display from 11th to 14th February 2014 at the Changi Exhibition Centre. This is also the first time that any airline will be showcasing the 787 aircraft at the Singapore Airshow.

“We are delighted and certainly proud to showcase Qatar Airways’ new 787 aircraft in Singapore and offer our guests the opportunity to experience the distinctiveness of our inflight product.” said Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker.

“Asia is a very important market for Qatar Airways, and there is no better arena in the region than the Singapore Airshow for us to present what we genuinely believe to be the one of the best and most advanced offerings in the air travel market.”

Flying long-haul with Qatar Airways will be significantly improved on the 787 with features such as cleaner cabin air, dimmable windows, and a more spacious seating configuration. Qatar Airways’ 787 aircraft features 254 seats in a two-class configuration. In Business Class there are 22 seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, which convert into fully flat horizontal beds, and a 232 seating capacity in Economy Class in a 3-3-3 layout.

Qatar Airways’ 787s feature the award-winning iTouch touch control unit, offering access to more than 1,000 movies, programming and audio entertainment options, an iPort, USB port, remote data outlet and luxurious personal cabin storage space - all available to passengers in both Business and Economy classes.

Qatar Airways currently has nine Boeing 787 Dreamliners in its fleet of aircraft, with 51 more on order. Qatar Airways flies the 787 on many of its routes from Doha, including London, Oslo, Stockholm, Zurich, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Jeddah, Munich, Riyadh, Delhi, Bengaluru, Dubai and Brussels.

Last December, Qatar Airways reached a milestone in Singapore having celebrated a decade of operations in the island-state – clearly demonstrating the carrier’s commitment to the market and a strong demand for premium air travel by Singaporean travellers.

The airline currently operates 14 flights each week between Singapore and the airline’s hub in Doha from which it flies to 134 destinations worldwide.

Notes to Editors:

Qatar Airways is the national carrier of the State of Qatar. Currently undergoing rapid expansion, Qatar Airways is one of the fastest growing airlines operating one of the youngest fleets in the world. Now in its 17th year of operations, Qatar Airways has a modern fleet of 129 aircraft flying to 134 key business and leisure destinations across six continents.

On October 30, 2013, Qatar Airways joined the oneworld Alliance, becoming the only Gulf carrier to join a global airline alliance, enabling its customers to benefit from almost a thousand airports in more than 150 countries, with 14,000 daily departures.

Award-winning carrier Qatar Airways was presented with three honours at the annual Skytrax 2013 World Airline Awards held during the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, France last June. The airline was awarded World’s Best Business Class, World’s Best Business Class Lounge and, for the second consecutive year, Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East.

During the 2013 Dubai Air Show the airline placed orders for more than 60 new aircraft – a mixture of Boeing 777X and Airbus A330 Freighters. In total the airline has more than 280 aircraft on order worth more than US $50 billion. The airline will move into its new hub and home, Hamad International Airport from early 2014.
