Protect Yourself From Online Fraud

Recently it has been reported that some customers have received fraudulent emails that appear to be from Qatar Airways or the airline’s frequent flyer program Privilege Club. These emails typically ask the recipient to click on a link to log-in to an account with the Privilege Club credentials.

Data protection and privacy are of utmost importance to Qatar Airways and we are taking all possible steps to protect our customers from these types of online fraud attacks and phishing scams.

Learn to recognise phishing scams and online fraud

Phishing e-mails are intended to steal your personal data or Privilege Club membership information. The email will typically prompt you for personal data or direct you to a website to log into your account.

  • Emails might appear to come from Qatar Airways or Privilege Club. Even the email address might appear to be from a qatarairways.com or qmiles.com address.
  • Emails might appear to be from someone you know.
  • They might include official-looking Qatar Airways or Privilege Club logos and other information taken directly from qatarairways.com or qmiles.com. Phishing emails might include convincing details about your personal information that the fraudster found on your social networking pages.
  • They might include links to spoofed websites where you are asked to provide your account login details. The spoofed website might look similar to a website from Qatar Airways or Privilege Club.

Protect yourself from online fraud

  • Be suspicious of any email that asks for personal information or asks you to update your account details.
  • Before clicking on a link in the email, verify that the website address displayed matches the actual link and is not a "masked" website.

  • Ensure that your browser has opened a genuine qatarairways.com or qmiles.com website address. Online fraudsters often use web addresses that closely resemble the name of a well-known company but are slightly altered by adding, omitting or transposing letters.
